Weaving

I’ve been known to return from trips abroad with an extra suitcase full of textiles (rugs especially!). I started weaving in 2012, and I work mostly on four- and eight-shaft looms, though I’ve dabbled in inkle weaving as well. I love trying new techniques, and I like to work with natural fibers.

I started out primarily interested in weaving rugs, but right now you’ll find a lot of fine wool yarns in my stash as I’ve been promising myself to move toward weaving garment fabrics.

Printmaking

I learned to printmaking as an undergrad at Grinnell College, and when I moved to the Pacific Northwest, I was delighted to find Corvidae Press, a community of talented artists working out of an non-toxic print studio in beautiful Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, Washington. I’ve been a member since 2013, and currently serve on the board of the guild.

In printmaking as in weaving, I’m interested in experimentation and learning new techniques. I fell in love with monoprints unexpectedly, and have spent a lot of time printing with pressed and dried plants picked up on walks in the woods near my home.
